About Us

After having our wedding on the property in 2012, we knew it would make a wonderful wedding venue that people could enjoy for many years, and in June of 2023 we had the opportunity to purchase the property and do just that.

We can’t wait to meet you!  Blake and Courtney Frye

Property History

In 1796, Frederick Seibert of Pennsylvania purchased 400 acres of property along the Tuscarora Creek for $8,000. Frederick Seibert served in the Revolutionary War while living in Pennsylvania. In 1800, he built the stone distillery and a tavern building, which served many soldiers. In 1807 he completed the stone house. After Frederick’s death in 1815, his son Michael Seibert built the kitchen, complete with a beehive oven. Michael took care of his mother at the homeplace until her death. By 1855 the buildings and 400 acres were valued at $20,000.

From 1855-1905 the property was owned by various members of the Seibert family.

In 1946, Parvin L. Sharff and his wife Daisy sold the stone house, distillery, and tavern with 134.5 acres to Robert Fierro, who began calling the property “Bella Vista”, meaning beautiful view. Robert Fierro, Jr. acquired the property from his father. The Fierro’s restored the buildings added the stone wall in the front of the house in 1972 and on May 26, 1988 sold the property to G. Edward and Katy Frye.

Ed and Katy Frye, along with their son Michael, continued with restoring and enhancing the property. They added the glass porch with the copper roof onto the house, repointed the stone on the main house, replaced the dam in the pond, replaced the roofs on all of the buildings. Katy, herself, laid a large portion of the stone wall around the pond.

Blake had the privilege of growing up on and working on the property, since his grandparents, Ed and Katy Frye, owned it from 1988 until their passing. He fondly remembers helping them with various projects Katy wanted done, including repointing the stone steps leading down to the pond, repointing the stone wall along driveway, re-laying parts of the pond wall, and helping his Pap with mowing and trimming. Katy enjoyed showing others around the property and was always inviting people to see it.
